[Lmms-users] New blank project

Is there a way to create a new project (Ctrl + N) without the 4 tracks and
the kicker in the beat editor? I always delete those when I start a new
project, and it seems right to make a new project blank at the start.

You can create a template!
Create a project and delete all the tracks you don't want, then save it
as template (.mpt).
If it doesn't save it as mpt, but as a normal mmpz (it does it to me),
then just rename it, I think it should be good.
Then, you have to create a new directory in your main directory (the
first directory in the setting), calling it "templates".
Restart LMMS, now you should see the template in the second icon at top
left (next to the "new project" icon).

If you are on windows, you may just go here: C:\Program
Files\LMMS\data\projects\templates (or similar folder) and place you mtp
there. I don't know what's the directory on linux.
(I'm running 1.0.92)

Me too. The idea is to use a template and then click the new project from
template button.

The default location on Windows is C:\Program
Files\LMMS\data\projects\templates.

I looked in the Wiki but couldn't easily find this information. @Stian
perhaps we should have it outlined.

What do you want outlined? The location of templates, or the fact that you
can create templates which might save you time?

You are right in that it didn't explicitly say you could save you time, so I
wrote it in here, under file controls.

You can maybe suspect a LMMS TIP about this too :) And I am going to add all
LMMS TIPs to the wiki tip page.

Or was this something about that you could replace the default mmpz file?
