Hey! I've started a Facebook page for those who want FFmpeg to be supported
and available in major GNU/Linux distributions.

Due to some unlucky events and personal battles, this great tool for
everyone who works with audio/video under Linux (and not only) is now
purged and sometimes really hard to get.

If you care, please join in and spread the word, so we can get FFmpeg BACK!

Looks like it's on its way back into Debian, hence likely Ubuntu:

Basically someone in Debian needs to do the work of packaging it to
Debian quality. And the security team has to actually be happy with
both packages, if ffmpeg is not to replace libav. That is: this is
Debian internal politics *and* work. I'm not sure that's something
that's susceptible to a petition.
